To maintain a safe environment within the court building for all employees, case participants, and the visiting public, it is the policy of the Clark County Municipal Court that all visitors successfully complete the physical screening process before being admitted into the building.
Upon entering the Clark County Municipal Court building, all visitors shall submit items such as bags, purses, and packages for screening through the x-ray machine. Electronic items that shall be placed through the x-ray machine include, but are not limited to, laptop computers, tablets, cell phones, and other portable wireless devices. All items are subject to search for prohibited items.
Additionally, visitors shall successfully pass through the walk-through magnetometer. To successfully do so, please observe the following procedures:
- Remove all items containing metal or aluminum foil from pockets and place into the plastic tray. These items include, but are not limited to, cell phones, wallets with credit cards, keys, lighters, gum or cigarettes/tobacco with foil wrappers, or any other metallic items.
- Outer garments with large amounts of metal (zippers, buttons, tags, etc.) may be removed and scanned through the x-ray machine if the Court Security Officers determine the garment appears to be prohibiting the visitor from successfully passing through the magnetometer.
- Note: If visitors are unable to successfully pass through the walk-through magnetometer, they are subject to search with a hand-held metal detector by Court Security Officers.
Items prohibited in the Clark County Municipal Court building include, but are not limited to:
- Any firearm, deadly weapon, dangerous ordnance, or explosive device as defined in Ohio Revised Code section 2923.11

The Court Security Officers may also prohibit entry of any other item or items that caution, good sense, or professional experience suggest are inappropriate to the Court environment, whether or not that item is specifically listed. Any item that is not disclosed by a visitor at the initial security check and is later discovered by Court Officers is subject to confiscation by Court Security. Any prohibited items confiscated will be forfeited.
Appropriate attire is expected in the Court building. Additionally, any visitor wearing apparel with offensive content may be asked to cover up the content. Refusal to do so may result in the visitor being asked to leave the building.
